HELL NO!

I’m oh so happy to tell others what to do, but practise what I preach?  Not so much. Hypocrites don’t come any more hypocritical than me! Which is all well and good if you’re on top of everything, not so clever if it’s the other way around. Time to haul some semblance of order back into my own business.

First things first, I sat down to map out all the exciting things I’d set up, both incoming and outgoing - copywriting, editing, books to update, books to finish, gift range development, sales outlets like Book Funnel, Draft2Digital, Book Vault, not to mention Etsy, Shopify, Folksy and Amazon. I won’t lie to you; halfway through setting down all I’d set up I had to go and lie down in a darkened room for a brief while.

When I emerged, still shaken, and completed doing the necessary I had something that looked like the London Underground system re-assembled under the influence! I’d been happily ploughing ahead doing all the creative stuff I enjoy without giving enough consideration (if any) to organisational issues.

And if even I was confused by all the different projects I was pursuing and the various paths I was tripping down, I could see there might be a fair amount of potential client bewilderment about which services or products belonged where.

I’d be intrigued (relieved!), to hear if or when any of you have found yourself in similar self-induced situations.
